Long Center Theatre Organ Society and Long Center for the Performing Arts present "Steamboat Bill, Jr." (1928). Grizzled captain of the steamboat Stonewall Jackson, William “Steamboat Bill” Canfield, Sr. (Torrence) faces stiff competition from rival riverboat owner John King. Bill hopes his son William Jr., (whom he’s not seen since the boy’s babyhood) can help save his boat and business. But when Junior (Keaton) proves to be a collegiate urbanite with no nautical skills and a passion for King’s pretty daughter, Bill Sr. takes desperate action that leaves Junior with only his inventiveness to deal with the boat, the girl, and an impending hurricane. The result is part slapstick Romeo and Juliet, part thrilling action film, and all Keaton comedic genius. Ken Double accompanies on the 1927 Mighty Wurlitzer of Long Center.
