News: Youth Silent Film Festival Feature

The 2016 International Youth Silent Film Festival
is currently underway in Portland, Oregon and is featured in a nearly 17-minute segment on Oregon Public Broadcasting’s (OPB) “State of Wonder” program this weekend.

The OPB website has the segment available online:

Theatre Organist Nathan Avakian has created some new scores covering additional genres this year, and the film created by the two young filmmakers who are interviewed along with Jon Palanuk uses one of them, “Noir.” The film (Shades of Red) and the score are absolutely phenomenal – unfortunately you won’t be able to watch that particular film yet (the awards haven’t been presented yet) but there’s no question in my mind it’s a very strong contender for the international first place award this year.
